Erin M. Brown

About the Guide

Erin M. Brown, MA, MFA (aka author Erin Brown Conroy/EB Conroy) has a terminal degree in Creative Writing, Genre Fiction, and is the creator and director of the Aquinas Writing Advantage full online writing program for students in middle and high school. She is the author of nine books (children’s, fiction, and nonfiction, including Simplified Writing 101: Top Secrets for College Writing Success); has been a professional author, writer, and editor for over 25 years; and served as a university professor of writing and research for almost 20 years.  She designed the curriculum for and taught at three college and university programs. In 2018, she led the Communications Content Development for writing at a major US university. Professor Brown has been teaching, coaching writers, and speaking to audiences since the 1980s.

Professor Brown is a member of the Authors Guild (AG), the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI), the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America (SFWA), and the Romance Writers of America (RWA). While authoring her books and coaching authors, she also is a story consultant for books and television; presents fiction-writing webinars online; and has been a writing contest judge for multiple regional and national fiction writing contests.

For younger readers, Professor Brown developed True North Reading: The Complete Mastery Reading and Spelling Program™, a multi-sensory, hands-on, video-based, online how-to-read program for children used across the world. Professor Brown has been quoted in hundreds of print publications such as Parents and Parenting magazines; the Chicago Tribune and Dallas Morning News; and websites such as geoparent.com, iparenting.com, and familyresource.com.Professor Brown has a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Creative Writing/Genre Fiction (terminal degree in writing) from Western Colorado University, a Master of Arts (MA) degree in Rehabilitation, and a Bachelor of Music (BM) degree in Education from Western Michigan University. She was a homeschooling parent for 34 years and homeschooled 10 children; lives in Michigan; and enjoys writing Science Fiction and Fantasy books, speaking online and at conferences, and walking her dogs.
